K.R.Pillai represented Kerala and Tamil Nadu in Nationasl in 1960s.His contribution to Kerala Table Tennis is to be remembered. A couple of decades ago, a small house near the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram, was abuzz with activity almost all through the day. A small table tennis camp was running there for years and K.R. Pillai, introduced wide-eyed children to the push, smash and loop.
Despite the limitations, Pillai brought his daughter, Ambika Radhika to become the senior National champion in 1996, the only player from Kerala to win the title. She was also the India No. 1 for three years. Radhika represented India in table tennis at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics chosen for the Olympian Award for the year 2015 instituted in memory of late Olympian Suresh Babu .
K.R.Pillaiís son R.Rajesh was the kerala state champion in 1980s and represented Kerala in the Nationals .Rajesh still continuing the coaching camp at Trivanddrum.
